Goal

The major goal of this project is to provide input for the planning authorities of Israel and other stakeholders (INPA, SPNI, OLI) regarding open spaces policies and biodiversity conservation. Our modeling work provides a sound first step in this direction, which can and should be further developed in terms of taxonomic breadth, on the one hand, and spatial resolution of work, on the other. To date such work has not been carried out in our region and the discussion of open spaces, a major conservation as well as land-use agenda, is still devoid of consideration of the projected effects of climate change on the spatial distribution of ecological communities. We hope to develop this project to influence open space preservation strategies at the national and the NGO level in the Jordan River Basin.
